In 2023, uLesson launched the uLesson National Academic Tournament (uNAT) to assess the mental prowess of Nigerian senior secondary students, with 6,000 participants vying for a 5 million naira grand prize and the title of uNAT Grand Champion.
The initial pool of contenders was fierce, but only 11 students emerged triumphant, earning their place in the quarter-finals. As the competition intensified, the numbers narrowed down to a resilient six students who secured their spots in the semi-finals, and only four students made it to the finals.
uNAT 2023 Question Formats
The questions in the competition came in three primary formats: subject matter, category-based, and โwin or pick upโ.
Subject Matter
Here, questions are focused on a specific subject that contestants choose, like mathematics, chemistry, or biology. e.t.c.
Category-Based Questions
There are six categories (music, lifestyle, economics, geography, sports, and current affairs). Each contestant picks a category, and everyone has to answer questions from that category for that round. Once that round is over, another contestant will choose again until everyone has had a chance.
Win or Pickup
Contestants choose numbers from a range (e.g., 1 to 20) and answer the question attached to that number within 20 seconds (note that as the competition advanced, the time for answers decreased). If correct, they win points; if incorrect, another contestant can pick it up and earn bonus points.
Meet the uNAT 2023 Winners
Eventually, Mofifoluwa Akinola claimed the prestigious first place, the uNAT Grand Champion title, and a trophy for The Ambassadors College!
Chimdubem Duruji and Adesayo Elumaro secured the second and third positions, respectively, adding to the glory of The Ambassadors College.
It was an intense journey, but it was worth it! Every student’s dedication and participation in every stage of uNAT marked them as winners in the pursuit of knowledge, and weโre cheering them on. Keep aiming high, because future challenges may bring unexpected opportunities.
The uNAT’s maiden edition underscores uLesson’s commitment to preparing people for opportunity and improving society through education.
The competition showcased the dedication and intellectual strength of Nigerian students, demonstrating the heights they could reach through their commitment to knowledge.
As we celebrate the accomplishments of the participants, itโs important to remember the transformative power of education in shaping a brighter future for us all.
