SystemSpecs announces Children’s Day Essay  Competition, collaborates with uLesson Coding School to deepen national prosperity 

LAGOS, NIGERIA. March 21, 2022: SystemSpecs, Africa’s leading financial, human resources, and e-commerce software technology giant, has collaborated with uLesson Coding School, a frontline Edtech startup that provides high quality, affordable and accessible online coding classes for students, to extend the benefits of participating in its annual Children’s Day Essay Competition.

The annual SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition enhances capacity development for national prosperity through technology. The 2022 edition of the competition is also part of SystemSpecs’ 30th-anniversary celebration.

The collaboration is in furtherance of the SystemSpecs’ commitment to the advancement of technology adoption for resolving national challenges. Entries from the brilliant young minds who will participate will generate original ideas and prepare Nigerian children to take a technology-first approach to tackle national challenges.  

Divided into two categories – Junior (for children aged 9-12 years) and Senior (for children aged 13-16 years), participants in the competition this year are to write essays on the topic, “Improving the Quality of Education in Nigeria through Technology.” Entries are to be submitted through the competition portal, www.systemspecs.com.ng/2022essay, from March 21, 2022, till April 20, 2022. 

While entries into the junior category should not exceed 1,000 words, entries into the senior category should be a maximum of 1,500 words. Entries must be participants’ original ideas, devoid of plagiarism, written in English and endorsed by an accredited school official, parent, or legal guardian.

According to Jenny Awa, Community Manager, uLesson Education, the collaboration is just at the right time when Nigeria needs a shift in the education sector to be at par with global standards and prepare children for a technology-driven future. 

Adding that uLesson Coding School teaches children between the ages 4-18 how to build games, websites and Apps using a global standard curriculum, she said the top three winners in each category of the competition will have access to high-quality and interactive e-learning experiences and can choose any certificate course of their choice.

Oluwasegun Adesanya, Head, Shared Services, SystemSpecs stated that the SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition in 2020 was to provide an opportunity for students across Nigeria to share fresh, bright, and original ideas capable of transforming our country positively. 

“This edition of the competition is special. It is one of the ways we are commemorating our 30th anniversary through an expression of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on equipping young Nigerians with relevant technology needed to be outstanding in society. To this end, we have collaborated with uLesson Coding School to equip participants with hands-on relevant technology skills that unleash their creative minds,” he added.

The school that produces the top winning participants in junior and senior categories would be rewarded with 10 and 20 high-capacity personal computers, respectively, aside from other benefits, including implementing an end-to-end electronic funds collection and payment for the school.

The first-place winner of the competition in each category of this year’s edition of the competition will respectively receive a high capacity laptop, a topnotch headphone, free 3-month coding course at uLesson Coding School, monthly 10-gigabyte internet data for one year, branded travel suite case, a unique keepsake hoodie, a thermal flask, and school bag.

Second-place winner in each category would also receive a high capacity laptop, a topnotch headphone, free 3-month coding course at uLesson Coding School monthly 5-gigabyte internet data for one year, a trendy hoodie, a thermal flask, and a school bag.

Third-place winner in each category would receive a high-performance tablet, a headphone, free 3-month coding course at uLesson Coding School, a branded hoodie, a thermal flask, and a school bag. 

The top 3 winners in each category will gain automatic admission to the SystemSpecs National Summer Coding Camp. Top 30 Honour Roll winners, 15 per category, will also be handsomely rewarded.

The previous editions were well received, with thousands of submissions from more than 1,000 schools in the 36 states across the federation and the FCT.

The organiser of the competition, SystemSpecs, is a 30-year-old pioneer in financial and human capital technology solutions and services developed in Nigeria for the rest of Africa. The firm recently spun off its operations into two subsidiaries – Remita Payment Services Limited (RPSL) and SystemSpecs Technology Services Limited (STSL).
